St-Denis-sur-Richelieu

I received another parish CD in the mail yesterday. I am now going thru the records for St-Denis-sur-Richelieu of Vercheres county. I added a bunch of new people yesterday and today and also did some clean-up with the existing database. Sadly, there are no Oligny or Saurette people listed, but there are plenty of other surnames of my lineage to expand upon.

I hope to have more time later to go thru this CD, but it is organized in a peculiar fashion that makes it much more time consuming to just zing on thru a certain surname. That makes this CD about the 3rd different type that I have now. So much for standards. :)

Themes & Genealogy

I receieved my new parish CDs two days ago. I haven’t really had time to go thru them yet, but there is information in there that I will be adding to my database and when I have added a bunch of new people, then I will upload it to the site. For now, I’m working on something else.

That something else that I am working on is the ability for you, the browser, to switch the way the News page looks. You will notice that I change around the look and feel of the site quite a bit. I am never happy with keeping it the same. Well, this morning, I have added the ability for you to choose how you would like the site to look. When you visit this site, there is a default look that will come up on your monitor. If you do not like it, or it does not display correctly (wuhan comes to mind), then over on the right hand side there is a section labeled Theme Switcher. Simply click on the different names until you find a theme you like and looks good on your monitor. I will be adding more themes soon, but I wanted to give you these options for now.

Information Abounds

I’ve now uploaded my gedcom file about 3 times in as many days just to stay current. Thanks to the emails I have been receiving from people, I have been able to do some “new” research that has added to my database. I find it hard to believe that the database is closing in on the 10,000 people mark. That is a lot of typing.

I ordered six more CDs of parish records today. I narrowed down the field to those parishes where I knew I got information from before. They are always quite a treasure chest of stuff.

Well, I do believe that I have neglected a lot of other things I needed to get done around the house – so it is off and away from the computer…….at least for a while. :)
