Genealogy Workings

I have gotten some more genealogy completed recently. My latest burst of work was inspired by a couple of e-mails with regards to the Saurette surname. I have always known that there are some Saurette descendants who use the Larose/La Rose surname. It wasn’t always that way, however. To try and clear some things up, I wrote a new page about the name. Read my Dit Larose page to see what I am talking about.

I have been entering more data as well as helping some other people with their research. To that end, I have ordered two more parish CDs. One is for the county of St-Jean (excluding l’Acadie & St-Luc) and the other is for Missiqoui County. I hope to have them this coming week.

I also ordered the newest version of Family Tree Maker. Mine is fairly old, and I do like to upgrade every now and again to stay current. I don’t think there will be anything different on the web-end of things, just on my end at home.

Thank you to all who have contacted me recently with corrections, questions, information, etc. Genealogy is most definitely a team effort, and I wouldn’t have gotten to where I have without the help of a lot of other people out there. Keep the inquiries coming!

Ancestral Flow Charts

Yesterday, I added two nice flow charts that show my ancestry on both the Saurette and Oligny sides. They both start with the first ancestor who came to New France and they run up to my grandfather. I know some people can get a better grasp of things if it is all out there in one image to view. Plus, if anyone is interested in the wive’s surnames, then they can get all the information on one page.

Genealogy Redux

Well, my early bedtime was not to be tonight. That’s okay though, I’ve been working on genealogy today. I got a nice email from a Saurette relative that had some corrections and queries for me. I got some of my Saurette data cleaned up – especially multiple entries for the same people.

As a result of all the Saurette finagling (sp?), I had to redo all of my .pdf files for the narrative pages. It didn’t take too long to do that and it was long overdue since I do polish up the data from time to time. I think I uploaded the database three times today because of changes. Oh well, I try and keep the freshest stuff up there for people to look at and dissect. Keep the queries coming people! I can always take the help.

St-Denis-sur-Richelieu

I received another parish CD in the mail yesterday. I am now going thru the records for St-Denis-sur-Richelieu of Vercheres county. I added a bunch of new people yesterday and today and also did some clean-up with the existing database. Sadly, there are no Oligny or Saurette people listed, but there are plenty of other surnames of my lineage to expand upon.

I hope to have more time later to go thru this CD, but it is organized in a peculiar fashion that makes it much more time consuming to just zing on thru a certain surname. That makes this CD about the 3rd different type that I have now. So much for standards. :)
